SmallBMS NG — Simple, Reliable Battery Protection for Your Victron Lithium Setup

If you’re after solid battery protection without the extra bells and whistles, the SmallBMS NG is a great choice. It’s made for Victron Lithium NG batteries (just a quick note: it doesn’t work with Lithium Battery Smart batteries) and keeps your battery pack safe by managing charge and load disconnects, plus giving you early warnings if the voltage drops too low.

This is a straightforward, cost-effective alternative to the VE.Bus BMS NG — perfect if you don’t need to hook up with Victron inverter/chargers. It’s got everything you need to protect your lithium batteries without the complexity of VE.Bus communication, so it’s not the right fit if you’re using Victron MultiPlus or Quattro inverters.

With built-in Bluetooth, you can connect it directly to all the lithium NG batteries in your system and keep an eye on everything through the VictronConnect app on your phone. It even pulls current and state-of-charge info straight from the batteries — so no need for a separate SmartShunt.

Whether you’re running a 12V, 24V, or 48V setup, and whether your batteries are wired in series, parallel, or both, the SmallBMS NG can handle it. You can connect up to 50 batteries in smaller banks or 25 in 48V setups — plenty of juice for your off-grid projects or DIY energy systems. And if you want to scale up or add backup, multiple Lynx Smart BMS units can be linked together.
